Wedding Decorations

Choosing wedding decorations, whether you're doing it yourself or hiring a professional, can be overwhelming. There are so many details to take into consideration when deciding on wedding decorations that one may not even know where to begin. But, finding the right wedding decorations doesn't have to be such a chore. There are just a few things to keep in mind and after that, everything will fall into place.

The most important thing to know before you tackle the wedding decorations is the theme of the event.

This is what the wedding decorations are going to be centred around. If you're having a beachside wedding or a beach theme event, you'll probably want to have lots of seashells, sand and beach items to use for decorations. If it's a garden theme, lots of flowers and plants may be necessary when decorating.

The time of day or year also plays a huge role in the wedding decorations. If you're using flowers to decorate, you'll definitely want to have flowers that are in season to keep with the theme as well as the overall feel of the wedding. If you are getting married during the winter months, you'll probably want to opt for deeper, heartier flowers such as roses instead of flowers such as daisies for decorations.

After taking these factors into consideration, it is time to start decorating! Below are some creative ideas:

  • Winding white lights through tulle and hanging them from above really give the air a romantic feeling.
  • Placing artificial green plants throughout the church and reception hall give any room an added touch of nature (just be sure to use plants that are in season.)
  • Scattering colorful confetti or iridescent baubles over the table is a great way to add sparkle and shine. It also adds to the romantic atmosphere.
  • Wedding centrepieces don't all have to be the same. Place different flowers of the same color at tables for the wedding centrepieces. It's a great idea to place a tag at each table explaining what the flowers mean. It will give your guests something to talk about while they're waiting for their food!
  • Tying wedding flowers around the aisle ends of the pews or chairs is a popular way to decorate the church. It's elegant and simple and adds a very nice touch.
  • For a different twist, use table cards that indicate a city or things that you and your new mate love. This gives a great variation to just using numbers. Just make sure that the things or places you choose for your table cards match the theme of your wedding.
  • For your wedding favors, place them in decorative gift boxes and tie them to the guest's chair. This will add to the décor as well as keep your guests from carrying them all over the place or overcrowding their table with them.

There are many great things you can do to make sure your wedding decorations are beautiful and unique. Just make sure not to go overboard. Too many decorations will overwhelm you and your guests.
