Wedding Flowers

Wedding flowers add elegance and romance to any marriage ceremony and reception. Wedding flowers go beyond the bridal bouquet (although that's a major factor as well) but the bridesmaid's bouquets, the boutonnieres, corsages, centrepieces and décor flowers.

Wedding bouquets are one of the most important accessories to the bride's dress. Traditionally they were round and all white but today anything is possible.

However, with so many vibrant colors and textures to choose from today, brides often choose something different from the traditional bouquet. The most important thing to remember when choosing wedding bouquets is that it should not detract from the gown and the bride herself but rather complement the look.

Bridesmaid's bouquets should be different from the bridal bouquet although they can include some of the same elements. Maybe the greenery is the same but the wedding flowers are different or vice versa. Bridesmaid's bouquets should also be smaller than the bridal bouquet and correspond with the size of the bridesmaid that will be carrying them. It's nice to have the bouquets matching the bridesmaid's dresses.

Corsages are wonderful ways to announce the presence of special family members at the wedding. It can be difficult to decide who will get a corsage and who will not as it's important to avoid hurt feelings. At the same time, it can be impossible to get a corsage for everyone who would want one. Many brides and grooms reserve corsages for the mother's and grandmother's to keep things simple.

The groom's boutonniere is worn above his heart to express his love and fidelity. It usually includes one flower from the bridal bouquet. That flower will be the focal point of the boutonniere but it can also include greenery, berries, and other flowers. Many grooms today are getting bolder in their boutonniere choices, using as much imagination and creativity as the bride when choosing her bouquet!

The groomsmen boutonnieres should complement the bridesmaid bouquets. This can be achieved by creating a boutonniere of one flower that is in the bridesmaid's bouquets or is the same color as their dresses.

Boutonnieres are also traditionally worn by the father's and grandfather's of the bride and groom. However these should not be as large or as elaborate as that of the groom or groomsmen.

Perhaps one of the most important decisions you're going to make when choosing wedding flowers is first choosing your florist. A good florist will work with you while offering their professional opinions. They will ultimately listen to your thoughts and concerns. They should also have photos and samples of their work to show you.

Florists should absolutely guarantee the work, quality, freshness, and on-time delivery of your wedding flowers. They may also work with the baker you have chosen to design your wedding cake or toppers. When choosing your florist, be sure to get a quote as this will make it easier for negotiations later on. Also, in regard to the wedding flowers, be sure to get everything in a contract as you don't want any surprises down the road.
