Wedding Themes

Wedding themes help all involved know what the ceremony and reception is about. All couples want to have a wedding that is unique to them and different from any wedding they, and their guests, have experienced before. Many couples choose to have a theme wedding for this reason.

When deciding on a wedding theme, it's common for couples to have an idea of what they want but not be exactly sure as to how they can accomplish it. This article goes into detail for a Valentine's Day wedding theme but be sure to check out other great ideas for a themed wedding included at the end.

A Valentine's Day wedding theme can be an incredibly romantic event and make it truly memorable for all involved. An old-fashioned look is a must for a Valentine's Day wedding theme. A classic gown and tuxedo will hold true to the theme as will accenting the wedding with splashes of red. A wedding gown with red accents or pinning red roses into the bride's hair will make for a truly romantic look.

The facility where the event will be held needs to be booked well in advance for a Valentine's Day wedding as this is a very popular day for couples to marry. Choose a venue that will allow for many candles to be lit as this will add to the romantic ambience.

For the ceremony, request that married couples stand and reaffirm their devotion and love for each other. This will be a nice touch to their Valentine's Day and will add to the romantic atmosphere.

When it comes to choosing flowers for your Valentine's Day wedding, abundance is key as flowers are already very romantic. Your first inclination may be to go with roses but remember that roses are extremely expensive in February so another choice may be a better option. There are a number of beautiful red and pink flowers such as tulips, freesias, and hydrangeas.

For the music, a string quartet will certainly be a romantic way to go and will keep with the wedding theme. If you decide to opt for a deejay instead of a band of any kind, prepare a list of love songs that you would like played. That doesn't mean they all have to be ballads, add some fun by inserting some high-energy songs such as "Love Shack" to the mix.

The menu can really up the romantic ante as well. Opt for selections such as almonds, bananas, an oyster bar, chicken with mole sauce (a Mexican chocolate sauce), asparagus, and chocolate covered strawberries.

For favors, the sky is the limit on your romantic wedding theme. You may want to consider a small box of heart-shaped candy with a Valentine attached. This is also a great way to personalize the favors!

When choosing a wedding theme, it can be incredibly fun to plan it out and decide on the "little things" that will truly bring out the wedding's theme. Be sure to follow the theme through all aspects of the wedding though to provide continuity. Some other wedding themes that are quite popular are: Hollywood Glamour, Art Lover, Christmas, Garden or Natural, Medieval, Sports Fan, and the Beach wedding to name just a few.
